Your safety matters to us
LessonsMalta.com helps students, parents, tutors and teachers connect. We take reasonable steps to support a trustworthy platform, but online safety is a shared responsibility.
Please take a few simple precautions when contacting a tutor or arranging lessons.
🔎 Tutor Verification
As part of our verification process, some tutors may provide information that helps us establish their connection with an educational institution or professional background.
For example, some tutors may provide:
- An iLearn email address or an email address connected to another established school or educational organisation in Malta.
- Information showing their connection with an established educational institution.
- Their Maltese Teacher’s Warrant number, where they choose to provide it.
- Other relevant information that may assist with verification.
Providing this information can assist with our checks, but verification does not mean that LessonsMalta.com guarantees, endorses or certifies a tutor.
A verified tutor should not automatically be assumed to be suitable, qualified for every subject, or safe in every circumstance.
✅ Always Do Your Own Checks
Before arranging lessons, students and parents should:
- Read the tutor’s profile carefully.
- Ask questions about their experience and qualifications.
- Confirm the subject, level and type of lessons required.
- Discuss where and how the lessons will take place.
- Check any information that is important to you.
- For younger students, involve a parent or guardian.
🔐 Protect Your Personal Information
Never share unnecessary sensitive information with someone you have met online.
Avoid sharing:
- Passwords
- Banking or payment details
- Identification documents
- Security codes
- Unnecessary personal information
👨👩👧 For Parents & Guardians
If your child is under 18, we recommend that a parent or guardian is involved when choosing a tutor and arranging lessons.
Consider discussing:
- Who the tutor is
- Where lessons will take place
- Whether lessons are online or in person
- How communication will take place
- Any payment arrangements
🚩 Something Doesn’t Feel Right?
If a tutor or student behaves inappropriately, provides suspicious information, asks for unusual personal details, or makes you uncomfortable, stop communicating and report the matter.
We may review reported listings or accounts and take appropriate action under our platform rules.
If you believe there is an immediate risk to someone’s safety, contact the appropriate emergency or law-enforcement service.
